Embrace the power of 'and'— it's the key to an abundant life

I’m a product of the 70’s and 80’s and one of the best things to do on a Saturday morning was get up before my parents, pour a bowl of cereal and park in front of cartoons. It was a treat as I got to choose what I watched. One of the things I looked forward to most was SchoolHouse Rock, catchy educational shorts that illuminated young minds about history, science, math and grammar. One that still gets stuck in my head is “Conjunction Junction”. Those of a certain age probably can hear the tune now.

Fast forward and I often think about how such a tiny distinction, a change in conjunction, can make such a difference in our lives. So many people today live in a world of “or”. I can have this or that, it’s good or bad, I can be happy or have a job that makes money. Pick your pair and an “or” and you’re living in a place of scarcity. If you choose to live in “and” the world opens up and becomes much more abundant, I can make money and be happy, I can care for myself and others, I can be a great mom and a kickass boss.

When I work with clients I often challenge them to live in a world of “and” for a week and see what a difference it makes. Try it and see if it makes a difference for you. Let me know how it goes.
