What Do You Do Better Than Anyone Else? Own Your Brilliance

6 min read

Let me ask you a question.

What do you do better than anyone else in the world?

Not what are you pretty good at.

Not what your performance review says you do well.

Not what you can safely say without sounding too confident.

What is the thing you know—deep down—you're damn good at?

And can you say it without immediately qualifying it?

Well, I’m good at this, but…

There are definitely people who are better than me…

I don’t know if I’d say I’m THAT good…

If you felt yourself squirm a little just reading the question, you're not alone.

I work with incredibly accomplished, high-achieving women. Women with impressive careers. Women leading teams, building businesses, making big decisions, solving complex problems, and sitting in rooms they worked hard to earn their way into.

And yet, ask them to unapologetically name their brilliance?

That's where things can get uncomfortable.

Why Is It So Hard to Own What You're Good At?

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that being confident about what we're good at comes dangerously close to being arrogant.

Be humble.

Don't brag.

Don't take up too much space.

Make sure everyone else gets credit.

Don't make anyone uncomfortable.

And definitely don't walk into a room thinking you're the smartest person in it.

So we learn to minimize.

We soften our language.

We deflect compliments.

We focus on the five things we could have done better instead of the 95 things we did incredibly well.

We tell ourselves we're just being humble.

But sometimes, we're not being humble.

We're hiding.

There's a difference between believing you're better than everyone else and being willing to acknowledge what you do exceptionally well.

One is ego.

The other is self-awareness.

And self-awareness is essential to confident, grounded leadership.

Your Brilliance Isn't Something You Need to Earn

Here's where I want to challenge you.

You may have spent years looking for your shortcomings so you could fix them.

Become more strategic.

More polished.

More confident.

More articulate.

More disciplined.

More whatever-the-hell-you-decided you weren't enough of that week.

High achievers are incredibly good at finding the gap.

Give us a goal, and we'll figure out how to close it.

That's useful when you're learning a skill.

It's less useful when you start treating yourself like the gap that needs to be closed.

Because your next level of leadership may not require another certification, another book, another framework, or another round of trying to become better at everything.

It may require something much harder:

Fully owning what is already exceptional about you.

Your brilliance isn't necessarily something you need to create.

You may need to uncover it.

Name it.

Trust it.

And stop apologizing for it.

What's Keeping You From Fully Unleashing Your Brilliance?

Knowing what you're great at sounds simple.

Living and leading from it is different.

Because between knowing your brilliance and owning it, there can be a whole lot of inner noise.

Maybe your inner critic tells you you're not quite ready.

Maybe perfectionism convinces you that being exceptional means never screwing up.

Maybe people-pleasing has trained you to prioritize everyone else's comfort over your own instincts.

Maybe you've become so accustomed to overthinking that you no longer know when to trust your first answer.

Maybe you've spent years succeeding by being the version of yourself everyone else needed you to be.

These patterns can be sneaky.

They don't necessarily stop you from succeeding.

In fact, some of them may have helped you become incredibly successful.

You can achieve a hell of a lot while second-guessing yourself.

You can get promoted while battling imposter syndrome.

You can lead a team while privately wondering whether you're doing it right.

You can build an impressive career while constantly looking around the room for confirmation that you belong there.

That's exactly why this work matters.

The question isn't simply:

Can you succeed?

You've already proven that.

The better question is:

What becomes possible when you stop spending so much energy questioning yourself and start leading from your brilliance?

Imagine Leading Without Constantly Checking Yourself

Think about how much mental energy goes into second-guessing.

Replaying the conversation.

Rewriting the email three times.

Wondering whether you were too direct.

Wondering whether you weren't direct enough.

Rehearsing what you're going to say before the meeting.

Holding back the idea because you haven't completely thought it through.

Watching everyone else's reaction to determine how you should feel about your own decision.

It's exhausting.

And none of that makes you a better leader.

Imagine redirecting that energy toward actually leading.

Making the decision.

Sharing the idea.

Trusting your expertise.

Having the difficult conversation.

Taking up the space you've already earned.

Saying, without shrinking or adding a disclaimer:

I'm really freaking good at this.

That's not arrogance.

That's ownership.

Unleashing Your Brilliance Requires Some Unlearning

This is the part people don't always want to hear.

You don't unleash your brilliance by piling more on top of yourself.

Sometimes you get there by taking things away.

The outdated beliefs.

The perfectionism.

The need for approval.

The habit of overexplaining.

The constant comparison.

The voice telling you everyone else has figured out something you haven't.

The version of leadership you learned to perform because you thought that's what a successful leader was supposed to look like.

This is what I mean when I talk about unlearning what made you question yourself.

Because confident leadership isn't about manufacturing a new personality.

And it sure as hell isn't about becoming louder, tougher, more polished, or more certain about everything.

It's about quieting enough of the noise that you can finally hear yourself.

Then trusting what you hear.

This Is Why I Created the Brilliance Unleashed Mastermind

I'm bringing together a small group of professional women for Brilliance Unleashed: A Mastermind for Confident, Grounded Leadership.

And enrollment is officially open.

This isn't a program about perfection, hustle, or becoming a different version of yourself.

It's about remembering who you are—and leading from your brilliance with ease, confidence, and quiet power.

Leading unapologetically isn't about being louder or more certain.

It's about no longer being run by the inner noise that quietly shapes your choices.

Because when you stop questioning yourself at every turn, everything changes.

Not just how you feel.

How you lead.

How you make decisions.

How you communicate.

How you handle discomfort.

How you show up in the room.

How much of yourself you're willing to let people see.

And ultimately, how you experience your life.

What Is the Brilliance Unleashed Mastermind?

Brilliance Unleashed is an intimate leadership mastermind for professional women who are ready to stop performing, proving, and perfecting—and start leading with deeper self-trust.

We'll work together from September 2026 through February 2027 in a deliberately intimate group.

The five-month experience includes:

  • 10 virtual small-group sessions (2/month)

  • Live teaching and leadership development

  • Guided reflection and deeper identity work

  • Personalized coaching

  • The opportunity to learn alongside other women navigating their own next level of leadership

This isn't another leadership course where you collect information and add more things to your to-do list.

You probably don't need more information.

You need space to examine what's quietly running the show.

To recognize the patterns that have helped you succeed but may no longer serve you.

To see your own brilliance more clearly.

And then to practice leading from it.

So, I'll Ask You Again: What Do You Do Better Than Anyone Else?

Sit with that question.

Seriously.

Don't skip over it because it feels uncomfortable.

What is your thing?

Maybe you see possibilities other people miss.

Maybe you can walk into chaos and immediately see the path forward.

Maybe you understand people.

Maybe you ask the question no one else is willing to ask.

Maybe you're a phenomenal communicator.

A visionary.

A relationship builder.

A problem solver.

A strategist.

A truth teller.

Whatever it is, I want you to practice something that may feel surprisingly radical:

Be okay saying, "I do this well."

No disclaimer.

No minimizing.

No immediately telling me what you're not good at.

No pointing out who does it better.

Own it.

Because the world doesn't need another watered-down version of you.

And your next level isn't necessarily about becoming more.

It may be about finally allowing yourself to fully use what has been there all along.

That's the work we're going to do inside Brilliance Unleashed.

If you're ready to quiet the inner noise, own what makes you exceptional, and lead with more confidence, ease, and self-trust, I'd love to have you join us.

Brilliance Unleashed is now open for enrollment for September 2026–February 2027.

It's a small group by design.

Because this isn't about disappearing into another giant online program.

It's about doing the real work.

Being seen.

Being challenged.

And finally giving yourself permission to own your brilliance.
