Resilience

“If we’re born with the weakness to fall, you were born with the strength to rise.” - Rupi Kaur As a UNC grad I have a special place in my heart for Michael Jordan, in my mind he’s the GOAT of basketball (I know some of you will disagree, so we’ll agree to disagree). Michael was a star at UNC and went on to have one of the most prolific NBA careers. He’s well known for saying he failed over and over again, which is why he succeeded. Did you know he was cut from the JV basketball team in High School? He didn’t look at that as the worst thing ever, he used that to fuel him and the rest is history. Resilience is one of those things that quietly builds confidence, often over time. We fall down, get back up, dust off and keep going. The more we do it the more we develop belief in ourselves- that deep inner strength that says “I’ve got this” even if you’re not sure you actually do- the more your confidence grows. Building confidence means putting yourself in uncertain situations and regardless of the outcome, taking the experience and lessons with you. Being uncomfortable and getting to the other side is like going to the confidence gym, it builds your confidence muscle. What uncomfortable situation are you knowingly stepping into this week? LMK?
